What are tassels and what do you do with them? You can use them as tiebacks for your drapery, drawer pulls, beaded garlands, or as decorative accents on your hanging planters – the options are endless on how to incorporate tassels into any space! I’ve compiled a list of many ways to get your tassel on, plus how to make them…let’s take a look!
These tassels start with corks from wine bottles. Then I cut strips of sheet music and wrapped the tops with either canvas, fabric or burlap ribbon. Then I embellished them with lace, buttons and ribbon. They are adorable!
I had so much fun making these red ticking stripe tassels! I also used jute and beads to finish them off. I wrapped the tummy part with different pieces of fabric.
These cute tassels were again started with wine corks. Then I used different strips of fabric that I found at Wal-mart in Jelly Roll packs. So colorful and there is a color to go with every decor!
These creative tassel angels are made with nautical rope from Dollar Tree. I used unpainted beads for the heads and white string to tie them. Notice that I also made hair out of the nautical rope to add some detail.
I made these unique tassels with several ingredients from Dollar Tree: a hula skirt, sea shells, and greenery. Other ingredients used were wine corks, eye hooks, jute and wooden beads, which can all be found at craft stores.
Recently my husband and I ate lunch at Cracker Barrel. I love to look through their gift shop, and while doing so I found these delightful salt shakers. My mind immediately thought of making them into tassels and I am so pleased with the results. To make them each have a distinct look, I used strips of cloth, lace, and different types of ribbon.
A garland of tassels would be great for wrapping around a bed post, hanging across windows, the fireplace mantle, or adorning the walls! I hope that you enjoyed this look into tassel making!
