Hi Crafty Friends! In this blog post, we are going to talk about using neutral colors in your crafting. If you watch my Tutorials on DiyDreaming (https://www.facebook.com/DiyDreaming) then you know that I love to use neutral colors in my decor. Not only have I found neutral colors to be timeless, but I also feel that they look elegant and classy. If you are a lover of bright colors, then perhaps you could use neutral colors of furnishings and then bright pops of color for accents! Let’s explore how I have used neutral colors throughout the seasons in my home.

In the summer, I love to incorporate a beachy look to my decor. I don’t know about you, but I love the feel of sand between my toes and the sound the water makes as it hits the shore. When I look at my beachy decor, I can remember fun family times and dream of new beach adventures to come. In the above crafts, I used star fish and candle sticks from Dollar Tree, cream colored canvas duck cloth, buttons from my stash, and an old chenille bedspread cut up and stuffed, then put on one of the Magnolia 18×18 zippered pillow cases that come in a 2-pack. (https://bit.ly/2FB1jEi)

Above are some of my neutral Fall crafts. As you can see, I used brown craft paper to cut out leaves for a wreath and for a banner for my hearth. I also made a banner out of cotton duck cloth, used an old sweater to make a pumpkin on an 18×18 zippered pillow case, (https://bit.ly/2FB1jEi) and cut striped ticking fabric to make adorable pumpkins with wood stems. Tip: if you make these pumpkins smaller, they would look great in your dough bowls or on your tiered trays!

I love these neutral creations above, that I have used for my Christmas decor. Stockings, angels, and gingerbread decorations, using items from magnoliadiy.com I had so much fun using cotton batting to make lots of mitten and heart ornaments for my tree. I stuffed those ornaments with Crafter’s Choice Polyfill from Wal-mart. I made adorable tassle angels and added lace for wings, a wood bead for the head and a pipe cleaner for the halo. It’s so satisfying to create unique ornaments to adorn your Christmas tree! Add some throw pillows embellished with buttons and stencils from magnoliadiy.com, and you instantly have a warm cozy feel to welcome family and friends into your home for the holidays.

And of course, who doesn’t love to make Christmas trees of many sizes and from many different textures! Here I show trees that are made from torn pieces of fabric, Dollar Tree rope, wood shims. my favorite cotton duck cloth, old sheet music and buttons from my precious button collection.

I also use neutral colors for projects that are not seasonal and then they can be used all year long in my home. Check out one of my all time favorites above. “Bloom where you are planted.” It’s made with a magnoliadiy.com surface and stencil, and embellished with flower stuffies. Don’t you love the way I accented the flowers and other things with my trademark ‘dots and dashes’? One of the tools that I use the most from Magnolia are the ink/paste pen 8 pack found here: https://bit.ly/3tdPO9I I have found so many uses for these pens and they last for such a long time!!

I hope that you have enjoyed taking a peek into my neutral crafting world, and that I have given you some ideas for your own home decor and crafting projects! I have a list below of many of my neutral craft tutorials.

Have a blessed day and let me know if I can help you with any of your crafting questions!
