Have you heard the saying…”You can never be too rich, too skinny, too young, or have too many tea towels”? I certainly stand by the last part of that statement! I NEVER have too many tea towels!!! At our house, hubby loves to use my pretty tea towels to wipe out the coffee pot…ugh! So, I do have a slight obsession with making new tea towels!!
Above, are ‘just a few’ of the Fall tea towels that I’ve made. Each one is unique in it’s own way. From funny, to whimsical, to beautiful Fall colors, I love each one, and they look adorable hanging in my kitchen. I must confess, sometimes I make these tea towels for gifts, but I love them so much that I end up keeping them for myself!! Each one of these tea towels was made with a different Magnolia stencil and Magnolia permanent ink. These items can be found on my website at: www.magnoliadiy.com
The tea towels above were made for Valentine’s Day and Spring. It’s so much fun to add the look of the current season to my kitchen. How do you add seasonal touches to your kitchen?
We do a lot of outdoor grilling in the Summer. I am always needing a clean tea towel for wiping up spills, and drying large platters that were filled with yummy burgers! The great thing about Magnolia Ink, is that after it is dry, it can be heat set to make it permanent. Then, I can wash these towels over and over again and they look just like new. Who doesn’t love a little bit of whimsy? These tea towels are a blend of fun and great colors!! You’ve probably noticed that I love to add ribbon and ruffles to some of my tea towels. If you use fabric glue, in your hot glue gun, your tea towels will wash and wear without any worries.
Adding faith stencils to my tea towels, makes my heart sing. As you can see, I used Magnolia ink, with a little warm water added to it, to paint these tea towels. Do NOT use acrylic paint, it will make your fabric crunchy and it will not be permanent. To make a distinct line between the colors of paint, I used strips of painters tape. Tip: Do not use ANY kind of paint on your stencils. Paint will dry in the stencil mesh and make the stencil unusable. You want to make sure that you can use your stencils over and over! My latest tea towel color scheme has been black and white…AND Gingerbread Houses! I can’t wait to use these adorable tea towels during the Christmas season.
