Felt: The Appeal Of This Cost Effective Textile!

Have you crafted with felt? If not, by the time I show you what you can make, you will be running to the store to get some!! What can you make with colorful felt? Felt’s thickness and lack of fraying make it ideal for creating flowers that can be used in bouquets, brooches, or as embellishments. Felt leaf wreaths can add a natural touch to your home decor. You can experiment with different leaf shapes, colors, and sizes. Felt is a kind of cloth made by rolling and pressing wool or another suitable textile accompanied by the application of moisture or heat, which causes the fibers to mat together to create a smooth surface. Let’s find out what we can make with felt…

These lovely lavender and greenery flowers are so easy to make and really make a beautiful bouquet! I used wire floral stems to mount the felt on and displayed them in several different ways. I put them in a brown gift bag that was stenciled with a versatile Magnolia stencil and some Chalk Paste. Both of those items can be found here: https://bit.ly/3Iteju1 and here:  https://bit.ly/2XstAD1 Next, I used a glass vases and filled the bottom with split peas. The peas can be found at Dollar Tree or your local grocer. It amazes me how “real” they look!

Who doesn’t love pumpkin pie? Even better, who doesn’t love inexpensive holiday decor??? I cut out these pieces of different kinds of pie and strung them up with my favorite polished jute, from Wal-mart. I put different sizes of wooden beads in-between the slices of pie and a string of wooden beads at each end of the banner. What a cute mantle banner to greet my guests! Don’t have a mantle? Hang your banners in doorways, across the top of cupboard doors, or lay them down the center of your diningroom table.

When you need to sew a button on…where are your needles? Do you struggle with keeping different sizes and types of needles in one place? Then I have ‘just’ the solution for you! Make a felt needle case. You can take several pieces of felt and put them together, just like pages in a book. Then, decorate your adorable felt needle book with buttons, or lace, or your choice of embellishments.

Felt comes in SO many colors and there are SO many possibilities of how you can use it in your crafting. Watch the YouTube tutorials that I have posted below to stimulate some ideas of your own. You will be surprised by what you can make with inexpensive felt, some glue, and ideas!

Have fun crafting with felt.

Blessings, Hiedi
