Hey there Crafty Friends! Today I want to share with you some project ideas that you can make using embroidery hoops. If you need to find embroidery hoops, they are available at all craft stores and sometimes you might find them at a 2nd hand store or at garage sales. Wherever you get them, they make wonderful bases for crafting all year long. So let’s get started…

When stenciling on fabric, my preferred fabric to use is called cotton duck cloth. It comes in white, cream and different colors of ticking stripes. You do not need to wash the duck cloth before using it to stencil on. You can find duck cloth at Wal-mart, Hobby Lobby or on-line at Amazon.com. Also, in this picture I used some “bling” from Totally Dazzled to jazz it up a little!

This is one of my favorite embroidery hoop projects, using the Tree of Life Stencil and Brilliant White Ink from Magnolia. As you can see, I also used some of my favorite mother of pearl buttons to embellish it. I love neutral colors to use with my decor, but please feel free to use the colors that make you happy and go along with your personal taste.

Above are great examples of how to use embroidery hoops for different occasions and different seasons. On the left, I made ornaments for my Christmas trees. In the center, I made a pocket to insert some flowers from Dollar Tree, while using ink and one of my favorite Bible verse stencils. On the right, I used another Bible verse stencil, and embellished it with a lace and flower bow, and more of my mother of pearl buttons for petals.

These embroidery hoop projects are very different in that I used some of my pulled string flowers as embellishment, and incorporated some of my signature “stuffies.”

In the picture above on the left, you can see that I took parts of the stencil and made them into “stuffies” and then attached them with hot glue. On the right, I am using one of my favorite techniques: that is using a pattern stencil to make my own fabric. If you follow DIY Dreaming on Facebook, you will know that I love the pattern stencils and use them ALL year long!

Here is a list of the supplies that I used for these projects: cotton duck cloth, embroidery hoops of all sizes, Surebonder hot glue gun and regular hot glue.
